3D operating with Vista
« on: March 26, 2007, 11:01:00 am »
Hi,
I have a new laptop with Vista Home premium. SeeYou is working fine in Map mode but it is not working in 3D.  If the graphics need adjusting how would I go about it? My graphics are a Mobile Intel 945 GML express chipset with intergrated 3D graphics with a Intel Graphics Media Accelerator (GMA)950 with 224MB  of shared memory, supporting Mocrosft Direct X 9.0.
Need some help please.

First try all the usual suggestions, please. Turn off all possible items in Tools > Options > 3D view, then slowly apply them one by one to see if there is a particular setting which causes your graphics card driver to slow shut.

Hello Andrej,
To recap, as stated, when running a flight the system is fine in map mode. When the flight is started or moved to 3d mode all that appears is the glider reg which then moves around the centre of the screen in a random manner until the centre of the screen is totally overwritten. If started in map and tranferred to 3D the same happens. The zoom in/out function is inop in 3D.

When stopped, to clear the screen in 3D I have to go back to the map mode.
When going back to 3D to start again it shows that it is  generating textures on the the lower toolbar but only the glider reg. appears.

As requested, on going to options/3D, nothing happens until viewing directon is ticked and then the glider reg. appears and does as previously  stated. When having worked down to vector maps at no time does it appear as if anything has loaded onto the page as indicated by the bottom toolbar.

Forgive me for asking but what are the "usual suggestions"?

I notice that someone else has had similar problems with Vista  with no success as appeared on the "User Interface" page.  Hope there is a resolution, (forgive the pun).

Ok Andrej...here is my story.
New Sony Vaio laptop, VGN-TXN25N, Vista, SeeYou v3.71.
Display:  Generic PnP Monitor-Mobile Intel 945 GM Express chip set.
Go to Control Panel/Intel GMA Driver for Mobile.
Default settings:  32 bit color, 60 Hz, 1366x768.   No 3D display.
Change to 16 bit color, 60 Hz, 1024x768.  No 3D display.

There is a window for 3D settings.  Things like; asynchronous flip, triple buffering, flipping policy, depth buffer bit depth, force S3TC texture compression, Force FXT1 texture compression, Driver memory footprint, texture color depth, and anisotropic filtering.

Do I have to mess with those settings?

Help!

Same problem as the other posters.  3d view works fine in SeeYou 3.7.1 on my desktop with Windows XP Professional but not on my new Toshiba laptop with Vista Home Premium (2GB RAM).  Don't even know what my graphics setup is.
I followed the suggestions and turned off the check boxes in the Tools, Options, 3d View menu one by one without any improvement.

So Andrej...I am not the only person with this problem.
What do you suggest?
Something is very different with the video drivers in Windows Vista.  Yes?

Hello again,
Is there anybody out there that has got 3D to work with Vista?
If not is Naviter going to try to resovle it?
Anybody buying a new computer will more than likely end up with Vista and these new chipsets so the problem will need to be, and eventually will be, resolved.
Who's it to be?

My 3D also does not work with vista. The flight appears to be playing (the time is running and other flight properties) however screen is blank (grey) with only the call sign and bearing displayed on the main screen.

Well, you can add me to the list of SeeYou users who can't get 3D to work with Vista.

As described above, all I can get is the contest number printing in the 3D window.  No glider, no textures, nothing else.  This is a new Toshiba laptop with  >:( Vista  >:( Home Premium.

Update to previous...

I have 3D view running under Vista, but without textured ground.  I have everything else running -- I think -- including 3D terrain (wire frame).  When I turn on the texture, the ground fills in black and the 3D animation stops (however overhead 2D view keeps running normally).

Add me to the list of unhappy people. I iam running vista home premium on a Toshiba A200. I did not see anywhere on the site  that this would not work  so  can someone from naviter tell me how to get it working please?  All I get is a black screen with my glider reg shoing in the centre.

Eddie&all - we are not keeping a list. We are trying very hard to work around the problem however there are no quick solutions to this one. Please report unhappiness to graphics card manufacturers as well. There are positive examples of resolving 3D in Vista on this forum if you look around a bit. Note that only people with a problem post here. Most of the Vista users use 3D happily.

Hello Andrej,
With reference to your quote, "Most of the Vista users use 3D happily". Forgive me for saying so but I see no evidence of this. If your statement is correct that most people are happy could the "multitude" supply us, those who have contributed to this thread, their solutions and comments. Having started this thread in March and followed it pretty consistently I have applied all the information and advise obtained to no avail. As you admit, you are working on the problem and I appreciate that it may take some time. However, there is obviously a problem, and as the vender it would be appreciated if at some time you could provide us with  a solution.
Yours,
Sant Cervantes

I have just purchased an Acer laptop with an Intel chip set with integrated video and Vista. Everything works well except for a totally black window in 3D for the map. The moving height legend on the right indicates that the animation is working and can be paused and restarted. My old XP laptop works well in 3D with 3.7.1. Help.

3D view with texture mapping does not work with Vista and Intel 945GM chipset (which is what most mid range laptops seem to be shipping with right now).  If anyone can prove me wrong, PLEASE post details.

Latest drivers for this chipset may be found here http://tinyurl.com/2so4bt

I am using 15.4.4 and it will not display texture mapping in 3D (solid black).  Nor will several earlier drivers that I have tried.  I have tried reducing color depth, resolution, window size and all the rest.  No joy.  Works great with texture mapping off though (wire frame ground contour).

According to intel, this chipset supports OpenGL graphics without trouble, but I guess we know of one instance that doesn't hold!

Thank you Andrej, for acknowledging that you are working on this.

Regards,

Evan Ludeman
