No gps data / bluetooth gps
« on: August 11, 2006, 03:05:44 pm »
Greetings,
I have problems with connecting bluetooth gps, model BT77 (nemerix chip), to my pda Fujitsu-Siemens pocket LOOX 610 BT/WLAN.
I already tried nearly all possible combinations of settings, bot with no effect. I tried it with three different gps mapping programs: NavGPS, FlyWithCE and Navigator. with all three it works just great.
I tried so many combinations that I do not remember if I missed something. from different port settings to different speed settings, the terminal window stays blind. I tried to connect it by (on my pda specific) interface connect2air for bluetooth connection, I tried with only BT connection on, nothing.
When my pda connects to gps, it uses com6, from the connect2air and any other gps program, as also from seeyou. That the seeyou connects to gps, i know almost for sure, because it gives a sond for connection established and it sounds like that only on com6.
However, different speed settings, dtr, rts.... i tried virtually everything.
What bother me most is that it works flawless with other gps programs. I also tried it with no other gps software installed, right after hard reset, but there was absolutely nothing.

The GPS sends NMEA sentences for sure, because FlyWithCE also has a sort of terminal window, where you can see received gps sentences.
I also tried to select different last sentence and ignore checksum from input settings and also under hardware settings device: "auto" and "others". nothing, absolutely nothing seems to work....
I am getting tired of this "trial and error" testing and I was wondering if someone can help me with this, because seeyou is absolutely great. I would also purchase it, but it does not work with me.......
Thank you for any piece of advice!!!
Tim

Tim, if it works with FlyWithCE Navigator, it will also work with SeeYou provided you use the same settings and that Navigator is not occupying the COM port anylonger.

I guess you know the procedure by now:
1. GPS must be on and PDA must already be paired with the GPS
2. BT must be on on the PDA
3. Run SeeYou Mobile right after soft reset
4. Select the correct COM port (the same as you have selected in FlyWithCE)
5. Select the correct Speed for the COM port (again the same as before)
6. Press OK.
7. You should get a screen asking you which device you would like to connect to on this COM port. If you don't, some of your settings are incorrect

After you have selected the GPS you would like to use it should immediately show BAD or OK as GPS input. Anything except NODATA is fine.

Nope... exactly the same setting as in FlyWithCE. with navigator it works with all speeds from 9600 to 38400. NODATA is constantly displayed, no matter what I do, from soft reset to hammer smashing (joke:-)
It stops at step 7-> it does not ask me which device i would like to connect to on this com port.

Thank you anyway ;)

If you are sure that you have selected the correct COM port under Menu > Settings > Input > Port Settings, then there must be some other software stopping SeeYou Mobile from accessing this COM port. There is no other explanation.
