I have a way to set bugs there (percentage of polar degradation) using a knob why would I have to set it again in the SeeYou mobile?

Because we are not sure that the way B50/500 degrades the polar in exactly the same way that we degrade the polar. Are you really sure that you want to use a radio where a change of frequency for 1 MHz on the display actually changes the Frequency for about 1.something MHz and you are not exactly sure how big the difference is?

I want to use the vario's speed to fly not to watch the ipaq all the time and for that reason I need bugs to be set on the vario.

Please explain:
1. Do you wish to send bugs from SeeYou Mobile to B50 or
2. Receive bugs from B50 to SeeYou Mobile?

Watching the iPaq for Speed-To-Fly reccomendations is not a good idea. Please read this post:

Could you ask Mike Borgelt for the information you need?  "Mike, when a bug setting of x% is set on the B50, what data stream will we see at the Ipaq?"  I know nothing about programming, but it seems with that information you could have an x% bug setting on mCU.

Andrej, lets work it out…
In B50 bugs can be set to anything between 0 and 30.

From B50 manual:

BUGS % = sailplane performance is degraded by bugs or rain on the wings which changes the polar and hence makes the netto/relative netto and speed command inaccurate. The bugs control may be adjusted to reflect the degradation in best L/D up to a maximum 30% degradation.

Let’s take one point from an imaginary polar e.g. at 60 kts with clean wings and bugs set to 0% the polar shows 120 feet per minute sink. If I have a dirty wing and I set bugs to 10% I will degrade my polar by 10% and this means at 60 kts the sink will be 132 feet per minute. If I set my bugs to 20% then at 60 kts the sink will be 144 feet per minute.

I never asked to send bugs to B50 since B50 can not accept bugs send by other hardware. I want to send bugs from B50 to SeeYou mobile.
From B50 manual:
$PBB50,AAA,BBB.B,C.C,DDDDD,EE,F.FF,G,HH*CHK crlf

AAA = TAS 0 to 150 knots
BBB.B = Vario, -10 to +15 knots, negative sign for sink
C.C = Macready 0 to 8.0 knots
DDDDD = IAS squared 0 to 22500
EE = bugs degradation, 0 = clean to 30 %
F.FF = Ballast 1.00 to 1.60
G = 0 in climb, 1 in cruise
HH = Outside airtemp in degrees celcius ( may have leading negative sign )
CHK = standard NMEA checksum
crlf = standard NMEA sentence delimiter

$PBSER, xxxx (4 digit serial number unique to every DDM)*CHK The commas are important.

By the way are you using True airspeed from B50 to calculate wind component in a straight flight?

Andrej, are you interested in getting the interface to B50 working? I have time I can wait but I would like to know if something is going to come out of this?

I guess there will be no answer here. It's been ten days. I assume you will not have full Borglet integration.

Sorry for responding slowly to this topic. I hope you will accept that we were busy stabilizing the 3.0 release of SeeYou Mobile (please do have a look:
http://www.naviter.si/seeyou-mobile/seeyou-mobile-3.0-2.php?Itemid=61

We will be looking into this for the next release. It seems that from what you quoted above that maybe we can make an exception and send/receive bugs from B50 if it proves that the two are really similar enough. Under the same disclaimers as already stated above.

Andrej,

It sounds like you improved your software quite a bit. When can you have reading B50/B500 bugs implemented? B50 or B500 will not accept bugs settings but they send them to PDA happily. I still did not buy my software yet and I would like to do sometime in March. Do you think you can have this implemented in March? I will be willing to test it if you can do a minor build.

It's just a general rule, please don't take it personally ;)
