test-version for PNA
« on: May 16, 2009, 06:07:51 pm »
I am interested in Seeyou mobile for PNA. I am going to buy a Navigon 8110 because I need it also for the car navigation and I read that it works without any troubles.
Before I buy seeyou mobile I will test the SW.
Which SW I should download? ---  SeeYou Mobile testversion or -- SeeYou Mobile for PNA (ZIP version)
- Are all functions available with the testversion?
- How long does the testversion run?

I have downloaded test version for PNA and and am installing it on Magellan Maestro 4370.   :)However, the directory structure is limited and the "files" need to be redirected.   :(  The keyboard is missing several important keys such as "\" and a CAPs shift key.  These are necessary when entering directory and file names.   ???  Are these keys disabled in the evaluation copy ??  Is there some way to input other characters ??

No, they are not available. Why don't you use the "..." buttons? That way you don't have to type, you can select.

Tried that.  Terrain/Airspace/Waypoint only allow to select from a list.  If it's not on the list, you can't select it.  How do you get it on the list if it's not there when you hit ... since \ is not an option on keyboard ??  Also, Waypoints is slightly different - it has a check box for each selection.

Flight and Settings both allow you to move up and down the directory structure with .. and \ buttons.  If those were on the Terrain/Airspace/Waypoints screens, I don't think that I'd have a problem.

Please do not take this as a negative criticism because it's meant to be truely constructive and are made because I have been designing interactive applications for 37 years  and using PC based GUI's for 25.  One of the ergonomic tennants of design is to maintain a consistent "look and feel".  Doing otherwise tends to confuse and frustrate users (me --> case in point).  Thus, I would advise that the the interface for entering/selecting file names be consistent accross all instances where it is used.

Point taken on having a universal way of selecting files. However, the difference is that with "Flights folder" and "Settings folder" are both selecting folders while Terrain/Waypoints/Airspace are selecting files. The idea of selecting the files is that you don't have to select the folder first, file later. It simply lists ALL files on your device which fit the search criteria (*.CIT for Terrain, *.CUB for airspace, lots of different formats for waypoints).

If you don't see your file you are looking for it means it is not yet on the device. Could you please double check?

Sorry for the delay in replying, I had to actually work for a while and that got in my way of playing with mSeeYou !!!

You are absolutely correct, that's the way it works which is actually pretty convenient.  So, no issue there now.

However, I am left with one issue that I've tried to find an answer to and have been coming up blank.  Maybe it's here someplace and I apologize if that's the case, but with regard to USA AIRSPACE files: how do I get a Tim Newport-Piece formatted SUA file (kudos to Tuno at JustSoar.com by the way !!) converted into the .cub format for the SeeYou programs ??

Open the airspace file in SeeYou and export it.
