Oudie Current Draw
« on: June 27, 2010, 12:50:48 am »
Quick question. I installed two Oudies in our G102 and G103 with hookup to the 12V on-board power. I am in the process of reviewing the main battery fuse installation in both gliders and was wondering what the worst case current draw of the Oudie could be.

E.g. someone was playing with the Oudie outside the glider and the Oudie battery is pretty empty, how much would the Oudie draw once hooked up in the glider again and charging (which it does automatically anyway).

A common main battery fuse size is 5 Amp, is that likely to be enough with the Oudie hooked in as well and charging while the E-vario is going and the pilot is chatting away on the radio?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks,

Yes, 5Amps must be enough (subject to other consumers of the electrical power on the same line).

Typical current draw at 12V is 250-300 when battery charged 450-500 when it is being charged.

Great, thanks Andrej. When you guys have a revised manual it would be great to have that kind of information as part of the section on installing the Oudie  :)
