Uploading Data to LX5000
« on: July 07, 2010, 10:14:27 am »
Hi folks,

has anybody (Andrej maybe you?) experience with uploading data (like a task, which was prepared in SeeYou Mobile) or waypoints (with connect me) to a LX5000 via serial link (K6MUX+Oudie).

I did it and was surprised: The LX thought it is in the air in 6000m. Even "power off" did not solve the problem. It took  1/2h until the behavior of the LX gets normal.

It was on a competition, so i asked other pilots at the evening. Some of them said, that it is a bad idea to upload something to a LX5000.

1. But how it is designed? What can I really upload?

2. Is there a difference with the LX7007 and the LX8000? (or in the other way round? I saw   an option under NMEA in the syssetuo of L7007like "LXtask) Do I get something else from the newer LX systems?

What can i do and what should I don't?

Best regards

Christian

Uploading tasks to LX 5000 is not a bad idea :)

But it is different than what you would expect:
1. The task will be declared and will be valid for badge/record claim
but
2. You can not select it as the task you would like to use for navigation in LX 5000.

It is an LX 5000 design fault (it was not really a fault when it was designed - ConnectMe and similar tools became popular after LX 5000 was already widely spread). LX 7000/7007 does however suffer from the same problem.
